THE HEIDI CHRONICLES WILL RETURN TO BROADWAY IN WINTER 2015 STARRING ELISABETH MOSS, JASON BIGGS, AND BRYCE PINKHAM; PAM MacKINNON TO DIRECT

Golden Globe-winner and six-time Emmy Award-nominee Elisabeth Moss (“Mad Men,” “Top of the Lake,” Speed-the-Plow) will star as the title role in the first Broadway revival of the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning Wendy Wasserstein play The Heidi Chronicles beginning a limited engagement in February 2015. The play will also star Emmy Award-nominee Jason Biggs (“Orange Is The New Black,” American Pie) and Tony Award-nominee Bryce Pinkham (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), and will feature Tracee Chimo (“Orange Is The New Black,” Bad Jews) with additional casting to be announced. The Heidi Chronicles will begin rehearsals in January with an opening in early March at a theatre to be announced.

Tony Award-winner Pam MacKinnon (Edward Albee’s A Delicate Balance, Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Clybourne Park) will direct. The creative team will include scenic design by John Lee Beatty and costume design by Jessica Pabst.

The Heidi Chronicles, which traces the coming of age of Heidi Holland as she tries to find her bearings in a rapidly changing world, was first produced by Playwrights Horizons in the Fall of 1988. Subsequently, it moved to Broadway under the egress of The Shubert Organization, Suntory International Corporation and James Walsh. It was the most acclaimed play of the season, and won the Pulitzer Prize, the Tony Award, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, the Drama Desk Award, the Hull-Warriner Award, and the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize when it premiered.

Here’s what critics had to say about the original Broadway production:

“Wendy Wasserstein’s enlightening portrait of her generation is both mirthful and touching, a tour de force for the author.”
– The New York Times

“Not many plays manage Heidi’s feat of inducing almost continuous laughter while forcing the audience to examine its preconceptions. It’s the play of the season.”
-Variety

“Witty, hilarious…not just a funny play, but a wise one. I doubt we’ll see a better play this season.”
-NY Daily News

“Exquisitely funny. Miss Wasserstein has produced an elegantly entertaining play.”
– NY Post

“A wonderful and important play.”
-NY Newsday

“The writing is emotional and heartfelt, rare qualities in today’s trivial theatre, and all the more extraordinary when combined with perceptive characterizations and witty dialogue.”
-BackStage

The Heidi Chronicles will be produced by Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, Susan Gallin, Mary Lu Roffe, Sally Horchow, Rebecca Gold, Wally Hays, Jam Theatricals, Gabrielle Palitz, Jessica Genick, and Will Trice.
